Delight God's Heart
Delight God’s heart in the way we love each other and delight in each other.
We often look at bible characters so that we can understand they were just like us. Weak. Prone to making mistakes. We like to know God still used them. We are able to see God’s faithfulness despite their mistakes, and we're able to learn from them. We know that God does the same for us.
But what about people that God delighted in because they were a blessing? What about someone who just delighted God’s heart because of the way they treated others? Does anyone stand out to you?
I think of Ruth, who chose to follow Naomi back to her homeland and look after her (Ruth 1:16-18). Afterwards, she was not only blessed with a rich husband, Boaz, who loved her, but in marrying him she became part of the royal line. She had a son by him and was grandmother to King David, and ultimately, she was an ancestor of Jesus.
What a heritage. All because she decided to show faithfulness to her mother-in-law and follow God.
Remember that today as you interact with others. How can you show love and faithfulness so much that you delight the heart of God?
Psalm 149:1, 4 (NIV)
Sing to the Lord a new song, his praise in the assembly of his faithful people.
For the Lord takes delight in his people; he crowns the humble with victory.
Matthew 7:12 (NLV)
“Do for other people whatever you would like to have them do for you.
Leviticus 19:18 (NCV)
Forget about the wrong things people do to you, and do not try to get even. Love your neighbor as you love yourself. I am the Lord.
Matthew 25:40 (NASB)
And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Truly I say to you, to the extent that you did it for one of the least of these brothers or sisters of Mine, you did it for Me.’
