In Repose

God holds everything in His hand. God numbers our days. God knows the beginning from the end. All things are created through Him and for Him. All things in heaven and earth belong to Him. This is majestic and powerful.

Considering that, how do I view my life?

The highs, the lows, the questions, all come back to God. What does it mean for me? If He were a god that is bent on revenge, bent on rules, or bent on His domination, it would mean we are pitiful. But the bible says God is love, He is merciful, He is just, He is a jealous God for those who love Him and follow Him, He is righteous, He is for the oppressed and the suffering, He is for the meek, He is for the humble.

My disappointments as well as my achievements and the good things established in my life can be viewed through the lens of God’s thoughtfulness over me. Therefore, no matter what happens, I can choose to be in repose – a state of rest even in my disappointments or heartache.

As I place my life in His hands, He carries me at times, He lifts me up at times, He lets me walk and directs me at times, always pointing me towards the destination He has for me.

My eternal destination is the most important goal in life, above every other goal, superseding every other reason for every other thing. I pray that I will walk through His ancient gates, and He will place the crown of life on my head.

He has promised a covenant for me. He promised it to my father, and that covenant now extends to me and my son also, and for his children, and their children, even in the life to come in the new millennium. Such is the power, and the grace of God and His kingdom.

He fights for me. He upholds my just cause. He sets His face against the proud that come against me. His love endures.

All of these things are found in the bible. This is the nature of God.

My life, therefore, no matter what takes place, is through Him. My eternal destination is in Jesus Christ, who has set my path and the path of my family in place by the sacrifice He made for us. There is a greater life after this life. There is far more ahead of us that we don’t know or understand but the bible tells us it is unimaginably better. And it will be without pain, disappointment and fear.

Laying my life in His hands, not keeping any part to try and order myself, is to let Him lift me up and make it all that He originally designed for me. I will trust and be in repose because I know He has my life, and the life of my family, in His hands.

Psalm 24 (NLT)
A psalm of David.
1 The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it. The world and all its people belong to him. 2 For he laid the earth’s foundation on the seas and built it on the ocean depths. 3 Who may climb the mountain of the Lord? Who may stand in his holy place? 4 Only those whose hands and hearts are pure, who do not worship idols and never tell lies. 5 They will receive the Lord’s blessing and have a right relationship with God their savior. 6 Such people may seek you and worship in your presence, O God of Jacob. Interlude 7 Open up, ancient gates! Open up, ancient doors, and let the King of glory enter. 8 Who is the King of glory? The Lord, strong and mighty; the Lord, invincible in battle. 9 Open up, ancient gates! Open up, ancient doors, and let the King of glory enter. 10 Who is the King of glory? The Lord of Heaven’s Armies — he is the King of glory. Interlude
