Turn Your Protest

Into Prayer

Prayers are when we bring our petition before the Lord and leave Him with it, thanking Him that He has heard us.

When we bring our praise and worship to God, we come to Him with a union established in our spirit. The same should be said of our petitions. We come to God with that union already in our spirit, and we gratefully lay them down knowing God is going to do what is best with it. We trust Him, and ask Him to guide us and guide the process.

When we trust that God is good, we can do that. When we don’t trust that God is good, we have a protest instead of a petition.

James 2:14, 26 (NIV)

What good is it, my brothers and sisters, if someone claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save them?... As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.

Turn your protest into prayer, by first deciding to trust God. Sometimes we have to begin with a decision to trust because of what we know the bible says. It is a decision we make because we know God’s nature is one of love, righteousness and justice. We know He can do what we cannot do, and we know He will do what is right and best and we cannot.

If we base our prayers on His Word, we learn a right posture for our heart and we draw on His nature.

Psalm 28:6-9 (NLV)

May honour and thanks be given to the Lord, because He has heard my prayer. The Lord is my strength and my safe cover. My heart trusts in Him, and I am helped. So my heart is full of joy. I will thank Him with my song. The Lord is the strength of His people. He is a safe place for His chosen one. Save Your people and bring good to what is Yours. Be their shepherd and carry them forever.

John 15:7 (AMP)

If you remain in Me and My words remain in you [that is, if we are vitally united and My message lives in your heart], ask whatever you wish and it will be done for you.

Jeremiah 17:7-8 (NLT)

“But blessed are those who trust in the Lord and have made the Lord their hope and confidence. They are like trees planted along a riverbank, with roots that reach deep into the water. Such trees are not bothered by the heat or worried by long months of drought. Their leaves stay green, and they never stop producing fruit.

If you decide to trust in Him today, relinquish your prayers to Him because you trust in His divine nature of goodness and rightness in all things. Honour Him with thanksgiving in your heart and keep that posture of faith.
