Bread Dough
Let’s liken ourselves to bread dough for a minute. God has put into our hearts all the right ingredients to make a tasty loaf of bread.
When we sit in His presence and study His Word, we allow the yeast to do its work. We can liken the flour, salt and sugar as all the things of the soul - our feelings, thoughts and choices, our hopes and dreams, our goals. Then there’s the oil and water, which we can liken to the Holy Spirit. This moulds and shapes our soulful inclinations to come into alignment with Father God so that our lives can expand and rise. This is the proving process.
1 Peter 1:7 (NIV)
These [tests] have come so that the proven genuineness of your faith—of greater worth than gold, which perishes even though refined by fire—may result in praise, glory and honor when Jesus Christ is revealed.
It’s only when bread dough goes through the transformational process of baking that it becomes edible. Only then is the process complete.
James 1:2-4 (NIV)
Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance. Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything.
Don’t be afraid of testing. Do you want to lack nothing? Embrace your life, even with trials. Consider it pure joy. Remember, that as Christ’s bride, we are being fashioned into a beautiful masterpiece, fit for the King.
We are being made ready.
