Believing Through Faith


So what can be said about faith? What are you believing for from God right now? Are you placing your faith in a person or in an outcome?


Hebrews 11:8 (WEB)

By faith Abraham, when he was called, obeyed to go out to the place which he was to receive for an inheritance. He went out, not knowing where he went.


Imagine telling people you’re moving but you don’t know where you’re moving to. Abraham didn’t know where he was going, what kind of people he would meet, if they’d be welcoming or hostile. He didn’t know the weather he’d endure as they were out in the elements, not in a nice family van. He couldn’t tell his wife where they would end up. He couldn’t promise her an easy life. They met battles, takeovers, conflict, negotiations, and at times great blessing. It was a lengthy journey. There had to be much trust that Sarah, Abraham’s wife, placed in him and there had to be even more trust that Abraham placed in the Lord and conveyed to Sarah. He knew he didn’t go on a whim. He had heard from God and it was God’s will for them that they step out in faith in the way that they did.


When we know we’ve heard from God, we can have the same confident expectation of the outcome, even if we don’t see the outcome up front or know what’s around the corner. The outcome will be what God has planned. The only thing that can stop that plan is our disobedience or inability to trust – which leads to the same thing.


Hebrews 10:35 (NLV)

So do not throw away this confident trust in the Lord. Remember the great reward it brings you!


When God calls, God leads, God provides, God equips, God enables. God will do what He knows He needs to do. We just get in the boat and row.


Hebrews 11:33-34 (NASB)

who by faith conquered kingdoms, performed acts of righteousness, obtained promises, shut the mouths of lions, quenched the power of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, from weakness were made strong, became mighty in war, put foreign armies to flight.


Commit your way to God again today. Don’t allow yourself to become neglectful in weariness. Continue to walk by faith, knowing God is all-sufficient, taking courage and hope because of the examples given to us in the bible.


Ephesians 3:20 (NIV)

Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us
