Help in Harms Way

People may come against you or attack you in various ways for various reasons. They want to silence you, stop you, or put you down. But in reading about the plagues in Exodus we see harm will return to those who try to use their power against you.

In Exodus, the Egyptian magicians used their dark arts to duplicate what Moses and Aaron did under the hand of God. But in trying to prove their own supremacy against God, the magicians ensured that Egypt received more of what they didn't want.

Exodus 8:6-7 (NCV)

So Aaron held his hand over all the waters of Egypt, and the frogs came up out of the water and covered the land of Egypt. The magicians used their tricks to do the same thing, so even more frogs came up onto the land of Egypt.

Then, Pharaoh summoned Moses and Aaron and told them to pray to their God to take the frogs away. Why not his own magicians? Because they couldn’t. Their powers were limited. God’s power was proven again and again to be most powerful.

The enemy will always hate and try to destroy (John 10:10). If you have chosen to follow Jesus Christ, His name covers you. His name is above every other name and Satan’s kingdom cannot destroy you. The only power he has over you is what you give him. Don’t agree to his chaos and his tricks. Jesus Christ’s righteous life lives in you.

Isaiah 54:17 (NKJV)

No weapon formed against you shall prosper, and every tongue which rises against you in judgment you shall condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord, and their righteousness is from Me,” says the Lord.

Don’t rail against people or at God about why harmful things might occur. He brings His people through storms and in so doing, we learn to fight in His Name. It is a war, but it isn’t against people.

Ephesians 6:12 (LSB)

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.

Remember, if Christ Jesus lives in you, you have help whenever you’re in harm’s way.

Psalm 37:5-6 (NIV)

Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteous reward shine like the dawn, your vindication like the noonday sun.

Psalm 46:1 (ESV)

God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
