You’ve Been Entrusted
1 Timothy 6:20-21
(NLV) Timothy, keep safe what God has trusted you with. Turn away from foolish talk. Do not argue with those who think they know so much. They know less than they think they do. Some people have gone after much learning. It has proved to be false and they have turned away from the faith. May you have God’s loving-favour.
(NCV) Timothy, guard what God has trusted to you. Stay away from foolish, useless talk and from the arguments of what is falsely called “knowledge.” By saying they have that “knowledge,” some have missed the true faith. Grace be with you.
Guard what you have seen and understood in the bible. Guard what you have seen and understood in the Spirit. Don’t let your mind become tainted by the opposing ideas of people around you. Continue to establish yourself in the Word of God, even if you feel like you’re the only one. Don’t prostitute your faith by playing with ideas, images, sounds, or experiences if they don’t honour the Lord God and what Jesus Christ has done for you.
Keep your belief in Christ as your central focus. Remember where you’re going for eternity and keep in mind how you choose to live in this life. Do you want God’s approval, and to enter into His eternal salvation, or are you living for the approval of people, who have no say in your eternal state of grace?
People will try and get you to be what they want you to be for their own selfish reasons. God wants what is always right for you. Who’s position for you is more trustworthy?
Ask yourself: Is what I am saying, doing, or thinking honouring to the Lord God, who I believe in? If He were physically in the same room with me (He is spiritually so it amounts to the same thing) would I act differently? He knows my thoughts. Am I asking Him to govern them? Am I asking Him to equip me and teach me? Am I allowing myself to be shaped by His righteousness and goodness so that I don’t stumble or give myself away? Am I allowing myself to be shaped by the world and its changing, unloving, shallow, judgmental, harsh ways? Does the light of Christ in me influence the atmosphere around me? Am I seeking Him first and letting Him influence my influences?
You've been entrusted with something priceless. Consider how you carry that gift in your life.
Take time to bring anything before God that you need to make right. Repent and ask forgiveness so that you can start again under His anointing. Thank Him for His grace to you.
Matthew 6:8-13 (NLT)
Don’t be like them, for your Father knows exactly what you need even before you ask him! Pray like this:
Our Father in heaven, may your name be kept holy.
May your Kingdom come soon.
May your will be done on earth, as it is in heaven.
Give us today the food we need, and forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us.
And don’t let us yield to temptation, but rescue us from the evil one.
(NLV) [The kingdom, the power, and the glory are yours forever. Amen.]
Amen.
